Government Information
On 1 July the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 replaced the Freedom of Information Act 1989 (FOI).
This new legislation is different to the old FOI legislation as it encourages the proactive release of government information on agency websites unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure, for example, someone’s personal details.
