Parramatta Stadium will be the home ground for a proposed Western Sydney A-League team under a bid headlined by Socceroos captain Lucas Neil.
Football Federation Australia wants to add second clubs in both Sydney and Melbourne in its next round of A-League expansion scheduled for the 2010-2011 season. Lucas Neil recently outlined his involvement in the Western Sydney bid. Under the banner of Inspire Sports Group, his Sydney based agent Paddy Dominguez has been putting the bid together. Parramatta Stadium Trust Venue Manager Luke Coleman confirmed Parramatta Stadium had signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the bid team. He said Parramatta Stadium was "ideal" for an A-League side because of "the Stadium's geographic location and the quality of the playing surface". "We've had the Socceroos here, we've supported the code, we've got the womens league playing here at the moment. We are well placed to host the proposed Western Sydney A-League team" he commented.
